Halle Berry Talks Multiple Personalities

"An actor friend of mine told me about a man who had the rights to this woman's...this is inspired by a true story. And it's been my passion to get it done ever since...10 years ago," Berry revealed during a screening in New York .
Berry portrays Alice, a stripper in the 1970s who struggles with multiple personality disorder. Berry acts out each one of her very different personalities, including a white Southern racist , throughout the course of the film.. It's a  challenge for most actors, but  Berry didn't have to look too far to find inspiration. The Academy Award-winner had the chance to meet the real-life Alice during production.
"She's an amazing woman," Berry told us, "And what I love about her is that she was never victimized. She rose above this illness and is now living a very good life. She's a teacher. She was married. Has children. So, it's a triumph. And that makes me feel good."
And Berry now hopes that "Frankie and Alice" will inspire, and enlighten, movie-goers, "Hopefully if they see this movie, it might shed a little light on such a dark place. These people are really struggling. And it is an illness. And unfortunately this disorder is not something that can be cured. It's something that they have to learn to live with and learn how to integrate all of their personalities, so I hope it will make people have compassion and feel empathy towards people with mental illness."
So far, critics are offering praise for Berry's performance. After notorious duds such as "Catwoman," "Frankie And Alice" (which is now playing in theaters nationwide) may just serve up the performance(s) Berry needs.

As her bitter custody battle rumbles on, Halle Berry is seeking comfort in her new love Olivier Martinez.
The couple were spotted taking a romantic sunset stroll along Malibu beach just days before news of her fight for Nahla became public.
The Oscar-winning actress threw her head back in laughter as the pair walked arm in arm along the foreshore.

Berry, 44, began dated the 45-year-old French actor, who is pop singer Kylie Minogue's former love, last year after meeting on the set of their upcoming thriller, Dark Tide.
Her ex boyfriend Gabriel Aubry, 35, was also in South Africa around the same time after accompanying the actress on location to spend time with their daughter.
Berry and Aubry, who previously had an amicable parenting arrangement, are now locked in a ugly battle over the two-year-old.

Sources have accused Aubry of using a racial slur against Berry while others claim the actress told the male model he was 'only good for one thing', adding 'thanks for the donation.'
Aubry's fling with Kim Kardashian was also said to be a sticking point, with other insiders claiming Berry was 'aggravated' by the prospect of her daughter spending time around a reality TV star.
Berry recently pulled out of the big-budget romantic comedy New Year's Eve and has since been replaced by Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl.
She had wanted Aubry to accompany her and Nahla to New York City for about two weeks of filming.
Aubry decided not to go, a source tells America's People magazine, promoting Berry to pull out of the project because she did not want to leave Nahla in LA with her father while she was on the East Coast.
'When Gabriel refused to go, that became a factor in her decision to pull out of the film because she didn't feel right leaving Nahla,' a source tells the magazine.
'No job is that important to Halle. Nahla comes first.'

By the standards of Kim Kardashian's usually high-profile romances, this one only flickered and faded.

In late November, the reality starlet and Canadian model Gabriel Aubry caught a Lakers game and stepped out to watch the movie Burlesque. They then quietly went their separate ways, and by early December, Kardashian was dating pro basketball player Kris Humphries.

But sources say that one person took the brief episode seriously: Aubry's ex, Halle Berry.

"Halle was very upset," says a source close to the actress. "She was upset at the idea of someone like that being in her daughter's life. She did not want a reality star in Nahla's life. She was very aggravated."

Another source close to Berry, 44, says the Oscar winner's reaction had nothing to do with jealousy.

"Halle couldn't care less who Gabriel dates," says this source. "She just didn't want Nahla exposed to the cameras that are undoubtedly around a reality star."

A source close to Gabriel says Nahla was never near Kardashian.

"Gabriel wanted to make sure he dated someone for six months before he introduced them to his daughter," says the source. "There was never for a second a thought by Kim or Gabriel that Nahla would ever go near cameras."

Either way, the brief time that Gabriel, 35, and Kardashian, 30, spent together has surfaced as one of several issues in the ugly custody fight over daughter Nahla, who turns 3 next month.

In November of last year, Berry and Aubry, who had been split for seven months, were raising Nahla in an informal joint custody arrangement, the result of what most outsiders had thought was an amicable breakup.

But then Aubry filed court papers to establish paternity and secure joint legal and physical custody of Nahla on Dec. 30, not long after Berry reacted to seeing him with Kardashian.

Halle Berry in custody fight

‘Jealous’ Halle Berry in custody fight

Actress Halle Berry has given up her latest movie role to take time out for a custody battle with her former lover.
She may have moved on after her split with Gabriel Aubrey, but it appears as if Halle Berry still wants a say in her ex-boyfriend’s life. Now the two former lovers are locked in a bitter battle over the custody of their child Nahla – a battle which, according to the Daily Mail, was sparked by Berry’s jealousy over Aubrey’s short romance with Kim Kardashian.
Berry allegedly demanded that Canadian model Aubrey stop seeing Kardashian, and threatened to withold access to their daughter unless he complied. Berry is currently dating French actor Olivier Martinez.
Initially, Aubrey and Berry had organised custody arrangements amicably out of court. But, according to a source close to Aubrey, Berry’s unreasonable demands forced his hand into starting legal proceedings in an attempt to get an official custody agreement.
“The real trouble started last year when Gabriel started dating a high profile reality TV star,” the source said.
“Berry totally lost it with Gabriel and gave him an ultimatum – to choose between dating this girl or having a relationship with his daughter.
“The problem was that they had no legal custody agreement in place so he was pretty much at her mercy as to when he got to see their daughter.
“So, he did what she wanted – he broke it off with the girl – but then he started legal proceedings to set up his custody rights so Berry couldn't pull that crap on him again.
“Well, that totally tipped her over the edge, now the gloves are well and truly off.”
Aubrey is applying for full custody in both Canada and California, as Nahla has duel citizenship, and is said to have saved voicemails from Berry to use as evidence in court.
Academy Award-winning Berry, however, is making the fight public.
“Berry has serious concerns for her daughter's well-being while in the care of her father for any extended period of time and is prepared to take all necessary steps to protect her,” said her publicist.
Aubrey responded in a statement, saying he was “disappointed in Halle’s decision to falsely malign him publicly and for her own purposes”.
“Gabriel also refuses to air their issues in the press as he believes this may ultimately harm their daughter.
“He will always defend his rights as a father and will always consider Nahla’s best interest. Halle’s continuing allegations in the press are untrue and irresponsible.”

Katherine Heigl Replaces Halle Berry In 'New Year's Eve'

Looks like New Line better update its RSVP list. Variety is reporting that former "Grey's Anatomy" star Katherine Heigl is replacing Halle Berry in Garry Marshall's star-studded rom-com "New Year's Eve." No word on why Halle dropped out of the holiday flick. It had been reported that Halle was in talks to play a caterer, so we suspect Katherine will step into an apron for the role.
"New Year's Eve" will reunite Katherine with a couple of her recent leading men including "Killers" costar Ashton Kutcher and "Life as We Know It"'s Josh Duhamel. Here's hoping "NYE"'s box office looks more like its predecessor film "Valentine's Day" ($110 million) rather than those Katherine-starring flicks which each grossed about $50 million.

Regardless, Katherine's joining a jam-packed party that already includes Jon Bon Jovi, Seth Meyers, Jessica Biel, Zac Efron, Sarah Jessica Parker, Robert DeNiro, Lea Michele, Sofia Vergara, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank.
Variety also reported that filming starts this week. You better believe we'll be keeping an eye out for the New York-based production on our walk to work!
What do you think about Katherine Heigl joining "New Year's Eve"? Any other actors you'd like to see join the cast? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!

HalleBerry has named her third fragrance "Reveal" because she wants to encourage women to share their stories.

The Oscar-winning actress has joined hands with cosmetics giant Coty to produce her new perfume and she exppressed the hope that the fragrance which blends plumeria, peach and mimosa will allow women to reveal more of themselves, reports femalefirst.

"Reveal is an invitation for women to share their story, to reveal some parts of themselves that they have not yet expressed. It has a perfect balance. Light and fresh, it becomes sexier and more mysterious as you wear it," she said.

The 44-year-old has previously admitted she was surprised by the success of her perfume range - her debut scent Halle by Halle Berry was launched last year and Pure Orchid just five months ago.
