Superstars Who Are Living With Diabetes on World Diabetes Day

On behalf of the world diabetes day, we thought of motivating you by giving a few examples of the stars who suffer diabetes but have still made it big in the entertainment and sports fields. Take a look to know who are those 5 superstars who have fought diabetes and learnt to live. Here are their success stories.

5 Superstars Who Are Living With Diabetes
1. Halle Berry – The James Bond hottie was diagnosed with the epidemic at the age of 22 when she was working for a TV show "Living Dolls" as early as 1989. The actress won an Oscar in 2001 (post diabetes) for her performance in 'Monster's Ball' and is still rated as one of the hottest Hollywood stars. Till today, she is been known for doing a lot of public service for the Barbara Davis Center.

2. Nick Jonas – The young pop star of the 'Jonas Brothers' came to know that he had type 1 diabetes in 2005 when he was just 13 years old. The teen icon spoke to a site on diabetic health stating that anyone suffering from it shouldn't allow it to slow them down and that's the only way to live with diabetes.

3. Salma Hayek – The Hollywood's Frieda Kahlo, in her recent appearance on Oprah Winfrey's show talked about her experience with gestational diabetes. The 43-yr-old stated it was too hard for her to get rid of the excess weight even after breast feed. The idea which she confirmed as lie and that it doesn't work the way. Salma Hayek, who had had a successful movie career till then said that it got extremely difficult for her to get back to shape and start work.

4. Wasim Akram - The famous cricketer, who made news for being diabetic, is now, the brand ambassador for Accu-chek (glaucometer). The Type1 diabetic, in a couple of interviews stated he was shattered when he heard the news and that it took him months to act normal. Today, he has been a role model to all cricket fans (diabetic as well as the non diabetic).

5. Sharon Stone – Slim and trim 52-yr-old Hollywood actress made news in 2001 for suffering from stroke while working. However, her health issues couldn't be hid from tabloid which said that the condition was due subarachnoid hemorrhage (bleeding on the brain). Stone is also diagnosed with diabetes and has been doing a lot of charity work for many diabetes fundraisers like the carousel of hope.

Hugh Jackman's Breakthrough Role As The Father Hero
The 2001 film Swordfish marked the beginning of Hugh Jackman’s career as an A-list actor. Audiences took notice of the handsome Australian actor who melted their hearts as the protective father Stanley who was desperate to regain access to his daughter Holly.
Jackman was paired with Halle Berry and John Travolta in an action packed film that dealt with international hacking and national security. Stanley starts out not in his daughter’s life because his ex-wife got sole custody and played the family court system against him. His days are spent lounging around in his trailer home trying to figure out what to do with predicament.

Then Ginger, played by Berry, arrives to give him an opportunity to make a lot of money fast so he can win back his beloved Holly. Stanley says no at first until Ginger brings up his daughter. He first reacts in anger and throws Ginger out but then agrees to the risky hacking job. In between performing tasks for his dangerous new job, Stanley risks being arrested by picking up Holly at school when she is forgotten by her mother.
When Stanley is caught by federal agents who discover his illegal activities they broker a deal for him. The authorities tell Stanley to help them double-cross Tavolta’s Gabriel. In return Stanley will get immunity and freedom. He agrees and sets off to fool one of the world’s most dangerous arms dealers.
