There’s a 13-year difference between the two actresses.

And while Katherine Heigl may have age on her side, Halle Berry proved that she has far more wisdom when it comes to style at an LA event on Friday.

The 46-year-old screen star trumped the 33-year-old when they both attended Variety’s 4^th Annual Power of Women event wearing similar dresses.

The pair both stepped out in black numbers with a square-shaped bust line.

But while Berry – who turned up with fiancé Olivier Martinez - put her cleavage on display in the lower cut item, also letting her pins go bare, Heigl opted to remain a little more modest.

The blonde – who was earlier spotted catching a limousine to the venue wither mother – covered her legs in unflattering nude tights and her neckline rose a little higher than Halle’s.

She teamed her frock with brown peep toe shoes and fashioned a silver necklace.

A host of other stars turne dout for the Lifetime-sponsored occasion at the Beverly Wilshire Four Seasons Hotel.

George Clooney’s girlfriend Stacy Keibler arrived in a curve-creating white frock with full zip down the front, while Dancing With The Stars alumni, Maria Menounos, wore a sleeveless cream number with an inbuilt brown belt feature.

They weren’t the only ones opting for a light hue - Queen Latifah, Sarah Paulson and former Desperate Housewives actress, Felicity Huffman, played with the theme but featured black detail in their attire.

Mother-of-three Jennifer Garner, kept her look mature and sophisticated, tying her brunette locks back and wearing an earthy tint.

Her husband, Ben Affleck, and Warner Bros. President of Worldwide Marketing, Sue Kroll, enjoyed a sweet moment as he bent down to hug her.

Jessica Biel’s outfit opted for a frilly wraparound with green and blue leaf detail printed on it.

Jennifer Love-Hewitt, Ugly Betty’s Ana Oritz and Dania Ramirez braved bright clothing for the sit-down dinner event.

While Terri Seymour donned a black-lined flesh-colour frock and Anne Heche shimmered in gold with a plunging neckline piece that had the illusion of being sheer.

Brides-to-be Jessica Biel and Halle Berry return home from friend's star-studded wedding in leg-baring dresses

They were both guests at their shared publicist's star-studded wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico this weekend.

Both actresses are engaged to be married.

And both Jessica Biel and Halle Berry wore long, loose fitting dresses and flashed a bit of leg as they headed home today

But the Total Recall star beat Berry in the style stakes in a light blue shirt dress, animal print flats and a monogrammed black Fendi handbag.

The 30-year-old managed to liven up the rather boring dress with a pair of statement earrings and RayBan Aviator sunglasses a generous eyeful of her toned legs.

Halle's shapeless shift on the other hand did nothing for the famously curvy beauty.

The Academy-award winner also kept her choppy new hair style hidden under a straw hat.

The actresses were amongst a clutch of celebrity guests, including Nicole Richie, at the event at the luxury Las Ventanas al Paraiso Resort.

Jessica who is engaged to pop star Justin Timberlake has been happily discussing her own wedding plans but admits she has yet to get her teeth stuck into the planning.

'It's very exciting - its just hard to find the time, honestly,' she told This Morning in Britain. 'But it's a good moment just to enjoy it and take it easy.'

When asked what style of wedding she wanted, she replied: 'I have no idea... I am one of those people who is not very detail orientated.

'I'll probably give an idea and let it be created. I feel like most of my friends, bless them, always go through some sort of something - one day of bridezilla - so maybe it's just part of the experience, you just have to do it!'

Berry is also engaged to French actor Olivier Martinez but has been tight-lipped about wedding plans as she is currently embroiled in a legal spat with her former partner Gabriel Aubry over their four-year-old daughter Nahla.

Berry is reportedly attempting to win permission to move the youngster to Olivier's native France.

The pair confirmed news of their engagement last month after dating for almost two years.

And the Catwoman star has since been spotted showing off her emerald sparkler on her wedding finger.
