- It has been far from plain sailing in recent months
But relations between Gabriel Aubry and Halle Berry seemed to have thawed somewhat after both were spotted spending time with their daughter Nahla in Los Angeles on Wednesday.
First to make an appearance with the adorable four-year-old was the Canadian model, who picked her up from school in Beverly Hills.
Shouldering the burden: Gabriel Aubry let daughter Nahla see a whole new perspective when he picked her up from school on Wednesday
First he gave the youngster a ride on his shoulders, though he had to hold onto his baggy beanie hat to stop it coming off as they walked.
And then she touchingly showed him some artwork she had made during her day's visit to her learning centre.
Gabriel, 37, looked all but completely healed from the injuries he sustained during his infamous scuffle with his former partner's fiancé Olivier Martinez at Thanksgiving.
Later Nahla was spotted sharing an embrace with her Catwoman star mother, who looked in a reserved mood.
Showing off her handiwork: Gabriel tried his best to look impressed as Nahla showed him her artwork
Hatagirl: The ambrosial youngster took her father's beanie hat with her when Gabriel took her from his shoulders
Bag carrier: Gentleman Gabriel even insisted on carrying Nahla's school bag for her as they pottered along
A reason she may have been tense is a final decision is imminent on her bitter custody battle with Gabriel.
The 46-year-old and French actor Olivier are trying to move to Paris with Nahla.
However model Gabriel, 37, is dead against it and it is just a matter of days before they will find out what decision a judge came to regarding Halle's emigration plans.
According to TMZ, the judge in the former Bond girl's custody case is ready to rule on her request.
Sources tell the website that both Halle and Gabriel's lawyers have closed their cases and are waiting for the judge's decision.
The former couple may also appear in court as the judge has apparently said that he doesn't want to send a written decision to the pair's respective lawyers.
Big hug: Nahla was also excited to see her mother after she was dropped off by her adoring father
Decision day awaits: Halle will find out if her plot to move to Paris will be possible when a judge rules on her custody case
