Halle Berry enlists Salma Hayek as a support witness in her custody case battle against Gabriel Aubry

Her secret weapon! Halle Berry enlists Salma Hayek as a support witness in her custody case battle against Gabriel Aubry

Rather like a twist in one of their films, glamorous Halle Berry has enlisted glamorous Salma Hayek to get involved in her high profile custody case against ex Gabriel Aubry.
If you haven't been paying attention at the back, Halle wants to take her four-year-old child to live in France, much to chagrin of her devoted father, model Gabriel Aubrey.

The 46-year-old is now engaged to Parisian actor Olivier Martinez, also 46, who is not be confused with Aubry, 35, who is French-Canadian and not actually from Europe.
It's been a bitter battle, with Aubry insisting that his child remains in the US, in her Malibu home, Halle has centred her argument for the move around escape from the paparazzi.
And so according to TMZ, she's persuaded Hayek, who is married to French billionaire François-Henri Pinault, to file a declaration stating that she knows France to 'be a much safer place for a celebrity because of tougher paparazzi laws.'

The 45-year-old told the court she spends most of her time with daughter Valentina, four, there and that they are left to their own devices.
The two women celebrated Halle's birthday last night with their two Frenchmen.
The venue of choice was, guess what? a french restaurant, Little Door, in Hollywood.
Hopefully she wasn't bleary-eyed today, as her and Aubry are at court now.

Despite their groomed appearance and personal stylists, even A-listers have a few photographic skeletons in the closet.
And while still incredibly pretty, this fresh-faced snapshot of Halle Berry vying for the title of Miss World in 1986 is world's away from her polished Hollywood look of today.
The Monster's Ball actress can be seen wearing a blush pink swimsuit with USA emblazoned across the chest and a slightly garish gold belt around her middle to accentuate her trim frame.

Posing like a real-life Barbie, Halle smiles for the camera in a solo shot and with her fellow contestants at the London event back in November 1986 with a face full of make-up.

Her dark locks look to have been primped into a permed mane while her ears are adorned with gold.
The former beauty queen entered several pageants in the Eighties, taking home the title of Miss Teen All-American in 1985 and Miss Ohio USA the following year.

She also placed as the first runner-up to Christy Fichtner of Texas in the 1986 Miss USA competition.
It was in this pageant that Halle hinted towards her aspirations and future Oscar-winning success, with Berry revealing she hoped to become an entertainer or to have something to do with the media.
In the same year, she became the first African-American Miss World entrant, making do with sixth position as Trinidad and Tobago beauty Giselle Laronde was crowned the winner.

Hopefully the resurfacing of these images will bring a smile to Halle's face as the mother-of-one edges ever closer to the big 5-0, turning 46 today.
The Cleveland-born star will no doubt be celebrating with daughter Nahla and fiancé Olivier Martinez.
However, she will soon be back on set as she is currently filming The Hive alongside Abigail Breslin.
In the film, Halle plays a 911 emergency operator who takes a call from a teenage girl, played by Little Miss Sunshine's Breslin, who has been abducted and carried away in the boot of a car.
The kidnapping plays out in real time as the pair work together to track down the killer.

Halle Berry steps out in a figure-hugging maxi dress

The ring's back on! Halle Berry steps out in a figure-hugging maxi dress as fiancé Olivier Martinez plays stepfather to Nahla

Hollywood is hard on women of any age, let alone those over 40.
But 45-year-old Halle Berry showed just why she is among Hollywood's more inspirational leading ladies yesterday, as she stepped out with fiancé Olivier Martinez and adorable daughter Nahla.
The X-Men actress, whose movie career remains in high gear, looked stunning in a floor-length black maxi dress, straw Fedora hat and tinted shades.

Most noticeable was Halle's ring finger, on which her sizeable emerald engagement ring dazzled.

Halle was spied earlier this week without it, sparking rumours that trouble was afoot in the romance.
News broke in March of the Oscar-winner's engagement to Olivier, whom she began dating in 2010.

The actress's hunky French film star beau yesterday carried four-year-old Nahla.
Her daughter is from her previous relationship with French-Canadian model Gabriel Aubry.
With wedding bells on the horizon, a beautiful child and a brand new movie in the works, Halle Berry certainly seems to be defying any notion of stasis in her career or personal life, despite the punishing reputation of the Hollywood machine on women of a certain age.
The Oscar-winner is currently filming The Hive, alongside Soprano's actor Michael Imperioli and Little Miss Sunshine's Abigail Breslin.
Next up for Halle will be Shoe Addicts Anonymous, an indie film about a support group formed for people who are addicted to shoes.
It was also announced this week that she will be a guest star on the next season of popular children's show Sesame Street.
Martinez, meanwhile, is also enjoying his own career success.
He is currently filming The Physician, a tale set in 11th Century Persia about a surgeon's apprentice who disguises himself as a Jew to study at a school that does not admit Christians.

Looking good: Age is no object for the Oscar winner, who is currently on a career high

The trio was seen out again today, heading to the Mark Taper Forum, a theatre in Downtown Los Angeles.
Berry once more looked stunning, this time in a pair of tan culottes which she paired with a scoop-neck black T-shirt, black-and-gold sandals and a different Fedora.
Martinez dressed in a classic black T-shirt and jeans, while little Nahla wore a pretty grey summer dress and matching sandals.

Epic transformation: Halle Berry plays a white woman in new film
Halle's many faces: Watch the Cloud Atlas trailer below.
If you bumped into this woman in the street, you would never think it's Halle Berry.
But the 46-year-old Monster's Ball Oscar winner has pulled off an astonishing on-screen transformation in her mind-bending new sci-fi fantasy drama Cloud Atlas.
In the first picture released of Halle in disguise, the African-American actress is unrecognisable as a white Jewish woman from the 1930s, a composer's wife named Jocasta Ayrs.
She also morphs into two other characters: Luisa Rey, a journalist from the 1970s, and Meronym, a tribal survivor in the post-apocalyptic distant future.
From The Matrix directors Andy and Lana Wachowski, based on David Mitchell novel of the same name, Cloud Atlas sees Halle, Tom Hanks, Hugh Grant and Hugo Weaving playing multiple characters across narratives that criss-cross through time.
According to the IMDB synopsis, the film shows "how the actions of individual lives impact one another in the past, present and future, as one soul is shaped from a killer into a hero, and an act of kindness ripples across centuries to inspire a revolution."
Just in case that wasn't trippy enough, get a load of these two Hollywood greats playing against type: Tom Hanks as a London gangster and Hugh Grant as a cannibal (a marked departure from his usual roles as resident lady-killer).

Hey there, handsome!

Enough of the pics, let's take a look at this bizarre new mind-blower of a film! Watch the five-minute-plus trailer below.
Cloud Atlas is due for US release in October. Its Australian release date is yet to be announced

Happy Birthday Halle

TODAY, August 14, is a very special day for actress Halle Berry — it’s her birthday!
The star — who is mom to daughter Nahla — is 46.
Berry received an Emmy, Golden Globe, SAG, and an NAACP Image Award for Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and won an Academy Award for Best Actress and was nominated for a BAFTA Award in 2001 for her performance in Monster’s Ball, becoming the first and, as of 2012, only woman of African American descent to have won the award for Best Actress.
Berry is one of the most highly paid actresses in Hollywood and has been involved in the production side of several of the films in which she performed. Berry is also a Revlon spokesmodel.
