But Will Smith, 47, was hailed a champion of diversity when he attended the MTV Movie Awards in LA on Saturday.
Joined by his lookalike son Jaden, the actor received the Generation Award in honour of his dazzling career, which includes Independence Day, Men In Black and I Am Legend.

Keeping it low-key for the occasion, the critically-acclaimed star wore a ribbed blue-and-white top under a tan-coloured suede jacket.
He matched the look with a pair of black trousers and smart shoes, which helped him walka fine line between smart and casual.
Cutting a youthful figure, he certainly looked years younger than his age: impressive considering he's nearly fifty years-old.

Wearing his trademark dreadlocks up, the youngster wore skinny jeans with a plaid shirt and leather jacket, plus a pair of urban trainers.
Fellow guests would surely agree that he looked the spitting image of his father.

Accepting his accoalde, Smith, joked that he thought the award was 'code for the old-ass dude award'.
'This is absolutely beautiful,' he said. 'I released my first record when I was 17. I'm 47 years old now. This June marks 30 years in this business. I'm dedicated to being a light in this world.'

She said: 'Will is a champion of diversity in Hollywood, blazing a path for actors by showing that someone of any colour can play any role, and can open any movie and win any award and be the biggest freaking movie star in the whole world.'
Actress Queen Latifah also paid tribute to Smith and described him as the 'king of all blockbusters'.
'There isn't a nicer, generous, more thoughtful man in town,' she said. 'We love every single thing about you Will Smith.'
