Halle on CBS This Morning with Extant Interview

Halle Berry Takes on TVCBS This Morning Interview

POSTED ON JUL 8, 2014 01:00PM
Academy Award winner Halle Berry went on CBS This Morning Tuesday to talk about the premiere of the new sci-fi thriller Extant. Check out five things we learned from the interivew and don't miss the premiere on Wednesday night at 9/8c!

1. How Berry chose Extant.
She explained that when she looks at potential projects she really focuses on the character, and doing something she's never done before. And even though it's science fiction, the show is still rooted in family with complicated characters.

2. Why switching from film to TV is no big deal.
Berry said that even when she was having success in her film career she always came back to do TV movies, and that now other movie stars are doing the same thing with the lines blurring between the two mediums.

3. The last time she worked with Steven Spielberg was on "The Flintstones."
While the two didn't work too closely together on the 1994 film "The Flintstones," they certainly are getting their chance to work together now.

4. Halle Berry has the power to change laws.
Berry has taken on the fight against the paparazzi, and against all odds was able to change the laws to where photos can no longer be taken of stars' children.

5. Halle Berry takes the best selfie ever.

Halle Berry continues her small screen run with a new CBS medical drama set up by her production company

She made the leap from the big screen to the small screen with CBS's summer hit drama series Extant.
Now Halle Berry and her 606 Films are linking up with Kate Jacobs, the executive producer of long-running medical drama, House, for another hospital-based series - this time set in prison, according to Deadline Hollywood.
Like House, the acerbic-but-brilliant doctor played by Hugh Laurie, Halle's new project centers on an enigmatic, unothodox surgeon.

The medic shuts himself up in a state-of-the-art private hospital in the grounds of a jail.
Written by Larry Kaplow, there were no details of the plot and no news about the casting.
The new series arises out of 606 Films' first-look deal with CBS TV Studios, which means the network's creative arm gets first refusal on any ideas that come out of 606.
Larry, Kate, Halle and her producing partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas will be executive producers on the show.
Meanwhile, Extant is coming to the end of its 13-episode run.
Halle plays an astronaut struggling to discover how she became pregnant while on a 13-month-long solo space mission.
It launched on July 7 and is due to end on September 17.

She is famed for her glamorous sartorial style on the red carpet.
But on Friday, Halle Berry kept her look simple, yet, chic when she took part in the Stand Up For Cancer telecast at Hollywood's Dolby Theatre.
The 48-year-old actress dressed up her charity T-shirt with a pair of ripped denim jeans, which she accessorised with classy black heeled shoes.

Keeping her luscious brown hair in its signature cropped 'do, the mother-of-two allowed her natural beauty to shine with minimal makeup.
Halle recently returned from a family holiday in Hawaii, where she enjoyed days out at the beach and group boat trips, as well as a zip-lining adventure.

Meanwhile, she was one of the many of the A-list speakers - including Jennifer Aniston, Kerry Washington, Reese Witherspoon, Ariana Grande and Gwyneth Paltrow - to urge viewers to call in and donate what they could at the charity event.

'In July she was diagnosed with leukemia and died just last week. She was a wonderful person and I'm thinking of you and your family. I hope you're together remembering all the love.'
With her breath coming out fast, Gwyneth continued: 'It's what gets me through every time I think about my father. Everyone knows someone who's been affected by cancer so everyone please give.'
