It seems Hally Berry's daughter is a little Karate Kid in the making.

The four-year-old was spotted wearing a hachimaki - a Japanese headband symbolizing endurance - to a children's birthday party on Sunday.

The Oscar-winner is still in the throes of a bitter custody battle with Nahla's father Gabriel Aubry, but she put her legal woes aside for the afternoon to indulge in family time at a karate-themed soiree in Burbank.

Easily defying her 46 years, the Monster’s Ball actress looked summery fresh in a straw fedora, white camisole, boyfriend-style blue jeans, and sandals.

The mother-of-one, who carried an environmentally-friendly water bottle, cracked a smile in amusement when her adorable little girl played with a bundle of colourful balloons.

Meanwhile, Berry's fiancé of two years Olivier Martinez was all smiles, bending down to help Nahla with her inflatable toy, while clad in a grey T-shirt and jeans.

Halle insists that life in Hollywood is unsafe for her family under the ever present paparazzi and is planning to relocate to France where her partner is from.

It's not known precisely what happened most recently in court for Halle and her ex-boyfriend of five years French-Canadian model Aubry since the legal proceedings were sealed.

According to TMZ, Aubry's lawyers will be using Princess Kate Middleton's recent paparazzi picture scandal as evidence that France is no more safe from photographers than Los Angeles.

Berry will be recognised for her charity work alongside Queen Latifah and Jessica Biel at the Variety Power of Women luncheon in Hollywood on October 5.
