The stars are aligning once again to support Stand Up to Cancer, which will stage its fourth telethon on Sept. 5.
The broadcast, which airs live across ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC and 28 cable nets, will feature appearances from Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Jon Hamm, Ben Stiller, Danny McBride, Dane Cook and many more. Performances by the Who, Jennifer Hudson, Lupe Fiasco & Common, Ariana Grande and Dave Matthews will also be featured.
Stand Up to Cancer, the fundraising org launched by a clutch of biz heavyweights including Katie Couric and Sherry Lansing, has staged a telethon every other year since 2008.
Rather than a traditional celeb-staffed phone bank, the telecast will also feature a “digital lounge” hosted by Yahoo News Global’s Couric.  Stars in the lounge will reach out to viewers via phone, Facebook and other social media platforms as part of a campaign, We’re Calling You. They will also participate in Q&As through their own social profiles. Supporters can sign up at werecallingyou.org.
“Cancer affects us all,” said Paltrow (pictured), whose father, writer-producer Bruce, died of oral cancer in 2002. “Each and every person can help the scientists who are working 24/7 to save more lives. We want to get that message out in as many ways as possible, so we’re excited to use social media to reach supporters from all over who are helping to grow the Stand Up To Cancer movement.”
Paltrow will co-executive produce the broadcast along with Joel Gallen of Tenth Planet Prods.
