In the high-stakes, edge-of-your-seat thriller The Call, a thin thread of survival separates a teenage kidnap victim from her only hope: a compassionate, steady voice on the other end of a cell phone marshaling all the resources she can to find her.

Veteran 911 Emergency Call Center operator Jordan (Halle Berry) has the kind of job that’s not for the faint of heart: navigating the public’s distress in order to save lives. But when a young woman’s frantic report of a prowler ends tragically, Jordan is devastated. Reassessing her life, Jordan wonders if perhaps she’s experienced her last fraught-filled phone call. With a supportive cop (Morris Chestnut) for a boyfriend, maybe it’s time to step back, enjoy life, and teach others the ins and outs of her high-pressure profession.

That lifeline to strangers isn’t over yet, though. When average American teenager Casey (Abigail Breslin), is abducted by a serial killer (Michael Eklund), she manages to place a 911 call from the trunk of the killer’s car.

Jordan, leading a group of new recruits through the massive Call Center operation, is in earshot of the call. It’s an all-too familiar scenario for this experienced public servant, but before long, Casey’s situation reveals itself as eerily, shockingly familiar. There’s only one thing Jordan can do: take charge in a way she’s never done before. She must turn Casey into a partner in helping them track down the killer, and prove that this call is Jordan’s calling.

Brad Anderson (The Machinist), directed the screenplay written by Richard D’Ovidio (Exit Wounds, Thir13en Ghosts), from a story written by Richard D’Ovidio & Nicole D’Ovidio & Jon Bokencamp (Perfect Stranger).

Jeff Graup, Michael J. Luisi, Robert L. Stein, Michael A. Helfant, and Bradley Gallo are the film’s producers. William C. Gallo, Philip M. Cohen, Dale Rosenbloom and Guy J. Louthan are executive producers.

Rounding out Anderson’s team are director of photography Thomas Yatsko (“Fringe”), production designer Franco-Giacomo Carbone (The Expendables), film editor Avi Youabian, music by John Debney, costume designer Magali Guidasci, and casting by Sheila Jaffe and Vanessa Spencer.

She had been proudly showing off her baby bump in an array of figure-hugging ensembles during a recent promotional trip to Brazil.

But pregnant Halle Berry seems to like her casual maternity wear more loose and comfortable.

The expecting mother-of-one hid her growing baby bump in a billowing knit top as she arrived at LAX to catch a flight on Thursday.

The 46-year-old actress wore the attire over a fitted black vest and teamed it with faded jeans and her favourite pair of Chloe gold studded ankle boots.

Her look was completed by a black fedora hat and she held a khaki wool jacket in front of her tummy, indicating she was travelling to cooler climes.

The glowing mother-to-be beamed as she made her way through the terminal.

Ever since she announced her pregnancy earlier this month, Halle has been seen travelling extensively to promote her new movie The Call.

She only just returned to LA from a glam trip to Rio de Janeiro for the premiere of the thriller.

On Wednesday, Halle resumed her mommy duties as she dropped off her daughter Nahla at daycare in Los Angeles.

The Oscar winner once again covered her growing baby bump in a lavender jumper and cosy grey scarf.

The Monster's Ball actress topped her pixie cut with a brown trilby hat and hid her make-up free face under large sunglasses.

Her adorable five-year-old wore her brown curls in pigtails and matched her famous mother in a purple jumper.

And while Halle carried the youngster's Hello Kitty lunchbox, little Nahla appeared to be daydreaming as she wielded her blue wand with streamers over some nearby foliage.

Not seen was the two father figures in Nahla's life - Halle's ex-partner Gabriel Aubry and Halle's fiancé Olivier Martinez.

Halle and the French-Canadian model came to a custody agreement last November preventing her move to France.

Meanwhile she's expecting her second child with 47-year-old Olivier after a three-year engagement.

In a recent interview with CNN's Alina Cho, the Cloud Atlas actress said she did not know if she was having boy, despite what other media outlets have reported.

'I feel fantastic. This has been the biggest surprise of my life to tell you the truth,' Halle told CNN earlier this month.

'I thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful.'

Her Frenchman beau has been hard at work on two period films - the romantic drama Deauville with Isabella Rossellini and the adventure drama The Physician with Ben Kingsley.

Last week, Halle dazzled in a lacy black cut-out maternity gown at the South American premiere at the Copacabana Palace Hotel.

Halle Berry has suggested that her new thriller The Call is her favourite kind of movie.

Berry stars in The Call as an emergency dispatcher who becomes embroiled in the manhunt for a serial killer.

In an interview with Flicks and Bits, the actress teased that she was truly frightened by her latest film's twists and turns.

"Right away when I read the script I knew it was something that I related to. I love this genre of film," Berry said. "I love suspense, I love thrillers, I like to be a little bit scared."

The Oscar winner continued: "[I] also [love] films with a cerebral content to it, as well. So this was right up my alley… I thought it was such a great role for a woman to play.

"At first she's a bit defeated but then throughout the movie she kind of gets her power back. She's just as much saving herself as she's saving the little girl."

Berry also credited The Call with teaching her about the emotional trauma that 911 operators face on a daily basis.

"I've always wondered who these people are and what they look like," she commented.

"And I think that's one of the elements that makes this movie interesting for people, because as I was talking to friends about the role everyone would be like, 'Who are those people? What kind of training do they have, and how do they stay so calm under such pressure?'

"So it's been kind of nice to put a face to all these people that do this job. This job was so interesting, in getting to speak to the people that I spoke to that do it. It was a little bit of everybody."

She may be one of Hollywood's youngest stars, but she has a taste in fashion that far surpasses her years.

Actress Abigail Breslin looked sublime as she attended the Los Angeles premiere of her new film The Call, on Tuesday at The ArcLight Hollywood.

The 16-year-old showed off her fine taste in an outfit that would not have been out of place in a haute couture fashion show.

Abigail wore a chic cropped black jacket that partially and tastefully displayed her slender midriff.

The trendy jacket also featured a large black silk bow, slightly ruffled shoulders and a very high neckline.

Abigail teamed the top with a pair of high waist and wide legged black trousers that contrasted well with her long blonde locks.

The beautiful actress kept her accessories to a minimum as the only jewellery she wore was a pair of small diamond earrings.

The mature style was a long way from her appearance in her breakthrough role as Olive Hoover in the Oscar winning movie Little Miss Sunshine.

Abigail wasn't the only star in attendance going for an all black look as Halle Berry also opted for a dark number.

She showed off her flawless skin and svelte figure as she happily posed for photographers with co-star Abigail.

The actress completed her outfit with a gold chain belt and strappy sandals, with a touch of subtle make-up.

The film sees Halle play a veteran 911 operator who receives a call from a girl (Abigail) who has just been abducted and must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life.

In fact the role brought back an emergency call that Halle had to make last year when someone tried to break into her home.

'I did have to call 911 about a year before I made this movie,' she recently told CNN. 'I had someone who was attempting to break into my house and when I called I told the 911 operator: "I think they're in my house."

'And from the time I thought they were in I couldn't stop talking; the operator said to me, "Ma'am, if they're in your house, you must be quiet. Stop talking." And I could not stop.'

The star admitted she learned an important lesson from the event, saying: 'Next time, if I ever have to call, I know the importance of being quiet and listening to someone.'

Halle Berry's come a long way since winning the Oscar for Best Actress in 2001, but not in the right direction.

She's remained her huge star since her sterling turn in Monster's Ball, hell, she's even been a Bond girl, but critical success on the same scale has evaded her.

And for the last few movies, box office success has been just as elusive.

Dark Tide, the 2011 thriller she met fiance Olivier Martinez on, was a total washout (pun intended), while Cloud Atlas with the safe pair of hands that is Tom Hanks underperformed.

She was also involved in the egregious, Movie 43, which was panned by critics and avoided by the public.

So she'll be hoping for a nice solid hit with The Call.

And the premise does sound intriguing.

The film, about a veteran 911 operator (Berry) who receives a call from a girl (Abigail Breslin) who has just been abducted and must confront a killer from her past in order to save the girl’s life, hits theatres on March 15.

She was joined by her co-star Morris Chestnut for the big night.

Halle, 46, seems happier of late after seemingly resolving custody issues with the father her four-year-old daughter, Nahla.

Halle's ex was reportedly distraught when the actress tried to take his daughter to live in France. The pair eventually reached a custody agreement which means Nahla stays in the US.

Halle, who pays Aubry a reported $20,000 a month in child support, struck a deal with the Canadian model last year.

Thriller: The Call probably won't win any Oscars, but Halle will be hoping for a good solid hit after a fun of flops

Aubry escaped prosecution after a brawl with Halle's partner Olivier Martinez on Thanksgiving Day.

He was initially charged, however those were later dropped with the French-Canadian ordered to stay out of trouble in the next year.

Halle and Olivier both reportedly felt it would not be in Nahla's best interest to prosecute her father for the fight.
